Chinese Medicines and Food Safety Laboratory is engaged in the safety testing and analysis for traditional Chinese medicines, with focus on testing and analyzing the content of heavy metals, pesticide residues, microorganisms, Melamine, Aflatoxin, Plasticizer, Aristolochic Acid and other harmful substances in traditional Chinese medicine or food, so as to help clients judge the safety of products.

The laboratory had passed the certifying audit by Australian NATA in 2008 and obtained ISO/IEC17025 Certification (Registration No.:15743). It is the first laboratory in Macau to obtain this internationally recognized certification, which requires strict compliance with NATA’s requirement on quality management of the laboratory’s operating system. Therefore, the safety and quality stability testing reports issued by our laboratory are accepted and recognized by the Hong Kong and Macau health authorities for registration of proprietary Chinese medicines.

The accredited testing contents are listed on the official website of Australia NATA. Currently, we provide safety testing for the following samples:

  1. Chinese and Western medicine

  2. Food

  3. Water quality

  4. Health products

Besides, we also cooperate with various government departments and the industry to conduct various scientific research, including:

  1. Detection of western medicines adulteration in Chinese patent medicines

  2. Safety research on heavy metal content, pesticide residues and microbial contamination in Chinese patent medicines.
