Founded in March 2006, Macau Institute for Applied Research in Medicine and Health (MIAR) is dedicated to advance the modernization and internationalization of Traditional Chinese Medicines (TCM). MIAR provides services of testing and quality control for traditional Chinese medicines and food in Macau.
As a key applied research institute under MUST Foundation, MIAR has two research labs: 1) Chinese Medicines and Food Safety Laboratory, and 2) Quality Control Laboratory.
Chinese Medicines and Food Safety Laboratory aims to serve business sectors for the quality analysis of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), on-demand new product development, quality assurance, the drafting of novel drugs quality assurance, technical consultant, and technical training. The Chinese Medicines and Food Safety Laboratory was accredited by National Association of Testing Authorities, Australia (NATA) in 2008, and with ISO/IEC17025 General requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories (registration number: 15743). It’s the only lab in Macau that has obtained such accreditation.
With high-end equipment, mature and advanced technology platform, and professional technical team, Quality Control Laboratory is committed to cutting-edge research on TCM quality control and evaluation technology. It also provides various high-tech services to the industry.
On January 2011, The State Key Laboratory of Quality Research in Chinese Medicine was approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology and formally established in Macau. MIAR serves as the supporting institution for The State Key Laboratory of Quality Research in Chinese Medicine (Macau University of Science and Technology), providing technical support and ensuring smooth operation of scientific research projects.
