Admission Requirements

Applicants must hold both a bachelor's and a master’s degree in a related discipline (Pharmacy, Chinese Materia Medica, Medicine, Chemistry, Biology, Biomedicine, Biotechnology, etc.). Applicants must provide proof of English language proficiency through CET-4/6, IELTS, TOEFL, or equivalent.

Degree Requirements

1. Each student must complete 6 credits of compulsory courses and no less than 6 credits of elective courses during the study period, passing all assessments with satisfactory grades. 2. After confirmation of enrollment of the required credits, students must write a thesis proposal and successfully defend it before commencing their doctoral dissertation research and writing. 3. Students must conduct systematic and in-depth research in translational pharmaceutical sciences under the supervision of their advisor and independently complete their graduation dissertation. Depending on research needs, students may be assigned to collaborative laboratories in Mainland China, Hong Kong, or other countries/regions for a period of collaborative research or data collection. 4. During the doctoral study period, students must publish at least one SCI-E paper (as first author or co-first author) and satisfy one of the following additional conditions: one SCI-E paper (as co-author), OR file one patent application, OR achieve one technology transfer. 5. The doctoral dissertation must be written and defended in English. Requests for other languages must be submitted for approval to the supervisor and the Macau Institute for Applied Research in Medicine and Health. The main body of the dissertation must be no less than 130 pages (following the University's formatting requirements). Dissertation format and other requirements shall follow the University's "Graduate Thesis Writing Guidelines". 6. Students who successfully pass the thesis defense and meet the publication requirements may apply for the doctoral degree in accordance with Macau University of Science and Technology's degree application procedures and will be awarded the Doctoral Degree.

Qualifications of Graduation

Upon approval from the Senate of the University, a Doctoral Degree will be conferred on a student when he or she has: 1. Completed and met the requirements prescribed in the study plan of his or her program within the specific study period, and achieved a cumulative GPA of 2.50 or above (excluding dissertation).; 2. Abided by the regulations of the University 3. Cleared all fees and charges and returned all University’s property and equipment borrowed.
